The XPEL film range

Every XPEL film, and what each one is for

Ten paint protection films plus the specialist grades — thicknesses, warranty terms and the honest answer on which one belongs on your car.

XPEL Ultimate Fusion

Hydrophobic paint protection film

Self-healing film with the coating chemistry built into the topcoat, so it beads and releases dirt without a separate coating on top.

Compare them

Thickness and warranty, side by side

The two numbers people actually compare, published rather than buried in a quote. Thicker is not automatically better — it is better on the panels that take impacts, and unnecessary everywhere else.

Warranty terms are XPEL's and run from the installation date, registered against your vehicle. Where a term reads "product dependent" the exact figure is confirmed on your quote before work starts.

Each film

What they are actually for

XPEL Ultimate Plus

Most fitted

The default choice, and the reason self-healing film exists.

XPEL invented self-healing paint protection film in 2011; this is the fourth generation of it. Two hundred microns of elastomeric urethane with a self-healing topcoat and a patented edge seal that keeps dirt out of the perimeter. Optically clear, and on properly prepared paint it disappears.

Thickness
200 µm
Warranty
10 years

XPEL Ultimate Plus 10

Twenty-five percent thicker, for cars that earn it.

The same chemistry as Ultimate Plus at 250 microns instead of 200. The extra thickness buys more impact absorption on the panels that take the worst of it, and it is the grade XPEL cuts patterns for on a number of specific performance models.

Thickness
250 µm
Warranty
10 years

XPEL Ultimate Fusion

Self-healing film with the hydrophobics built into the topcoat.

Ultimate Plus with a hydrophobic topcoat bonded in at manufacture rather than applied afterwards. Water beads and sheets off the film itself, so the car stays cleaner between washes without a separate coating on top.

Thickness
200 µm
Warranty
10 years

XPEL Ultimate Plus Black

Made for gloss black panels, which show everything.

A version formulated for high-gloss black paint and trim — the finish that shows every swirl, every water spot and every wash mark. Ultra-glossy, scratch resistant and water-spot resistant.

Thickness
200 µm
Warranty
10 years

XPEL Stealth

Turns gloss paint satin, and protects it at the same time.

A self-healing satin film that converts a gloss finish to a factory-look matte without paint or vinyl. It also does the reverse job: laid over factory matte paint it protects a finish that cannot be polished if it gets marked.

Thickness
200 µm
Warranty
10 years

XPEL Colour PPF

A colour change that is still a protective film.

Does the job of a wrap and the job of film at once — a full colour change in a self-healing protective urethane over the original paint, rather than a vinyl that changes appearance and protects very little. It costs more than vinyl and it is worth more.

Warranty
Product dependent

XPEL Armor

The heavy grade, with a pebbled finish.

Roughly thirty percent thicker than standard film with a rugged, pebbled texture. It is not trying to be invisible — the finish hides existing damage rather than magnifying it, which is the point on a working vehicle.

Warranty
Product dependent

XPEL Xtreme

Advanced thermoplastic urethane at 182 microns.

A TPU film at 182 microns, sitting below Ultimate Plus in the range while keeping the durability that separates urethane from vinyl.

Thickness
182 µm
Warranty
Product dependent

XPEL ExoArmor

The same adhesive and topcoat, in a thinner film.

A 173-micron film using the same adhesive system and self-healing topcoat as Ultimate Plus. Thinner, so it conforms readily to awkward shapes.

Thickness
173 µm
Warranty
Product dependent

XPEL TracWrap

Protection for a weekend, not for the life of the car.

An 8-mil urethane that goes on quickly over the front end, takes the abuse of a track day or a long gravel trip, and peels off cleanly afterwards. It is not a substitute for a permanent install and we do not sell it as one.

Warranty
Temporary — not warranted

Not body panels

Windscreen, lights, interior and more

Windshield Protection Film

An optically clear, impact-absorbing layer laid over the windscreen so the stone strikes the film rather than the glass. Also filters UV. A windscreen is a consumable in South Africa; this is the product that stops it being one.

Light Protection Film

Headlight and tail light film in clear or tinted, protecting polycarbonate lenses from UV hazing, pitting and stone damage. A replacement headlight unit on a modern car costs more than most people expect.

Interior Protection Film

Invisible film over screens, piano-black consoles, door sills and loading lips — the high-touch surfaces that scuff first and are often more expensive to refinish than a bumper.

Surface Protection Film

Protection for chrome, painted trim and wheels — the parts of the car that are not body panels but still get chipped, etched and kerbed.

Motorcycle Protection Film

Pattern-cut kits for tanks, fairings, fenders, side cases, handlebars and screens. Self-healing and non-yellowing, so it protects the finish without changing it.

InvisiFrame — Bicycle Protection

Frame-specific protection kits for bicycles, cut to the exact frame model. Chain slap, heel rub, cable rub and trail debris all land on the film instead of the paint.

Marine Protection Film

Protection film specified for hulls and marine surfaces, where UV and salt do in a season what a road does in a year.
